Putin expects EU to facilitate efficient use of Nord Stream's potential
MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Russia is counting on the European Union's assistance in effectively using Nord Stream's potential.
"Russia has always fulfilled and will fulfill its commitments as a reliable and predictable fuel supplier on the European market. We expect the European Union to facilitate the efficient use of Nord Stream's potential," Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a video message to the participants in a celebratory event marking Nord Stream's launch to design capacity.
The presidential press service has distributed the text of Putin's statement.
Only by common efforts will Russia and the EU be able to provide for the interests of both producers and consumers, as well as strengthen energy security, Putin said.
"I am confident that Nord Stream will make a sizeable contribution to the economic development of our countries and of the European continent as a whole," Putin said.
