MOEK starts 2012-2013 heating season

MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - OJSC Moscow United Energy Company (MOEK) commenced trial furnace operations for heating at social institutions, school, homes, administrative and industrial buildings in Moscow on October 6, MOEK said in a statement.

The statement said that furnaces were turned on at educational buildings on the first day of heating, including schools, boarding school, and vocational schools, as well as all medical clinics in the capital. Over the next two days, heat will be activated on at apartment, administrative and industrial buildings.

Furnace trials usually open the heating season, the statement said.

MOEK supplies heat to the Moscow region, and its activities cover all segments of the energy market: production, distribution and heat sales, and electricity output. The company belongs to the Moscow government.

MOEK was merged with its subsidiary, OJSC Moscow heat Distribution Network Company , on October 1.
