Rosnedra to auction Kuzbass coal section December 3

KEMEROVO. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Russia's Subsurface Resources Agency (Rosnedra) will put on the auction block the rights to use and production of bituminous coal resources at the Granichny Olzherssakoye section in Kemerovo Region on December 3.

Russia's official website for information on such deals says the starting one-off price for the rights is 121 million rubles, and that bids will be accepted until November 12.

The winner will obtain the rights to use the resources and a license for prospecting for and producing bituminous coal for a period of twenty years.

The section lies in the territory of the town of Mazhdurechensk and shares borders with deposits being worked by coal producers OJSC South Kuzbass Coal Company and CJSC Raspadskaya-Koksovaya. The section covers 1.2 square kilometers, and most of the coal (63%) does not reach the surface and lies below the boundaries of sections belonging to South Kuzbass.

Steam coal reserves within the section amount to about 24.3 million (C1), of which 12.3 million tonnes is coking lean coal and 12 million tonnes coking coal. Coal mined here will mainly be used for coking.

"The hydro-geological conditions of the section are complicated due to significant water cutting," the website says.
