Aeroflot fails to get Sheremetyevo chief's dismissal on board meeting agenda

MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Aeroflot did not manage to get the dismissal of Sheremetyevo International Airport's general director, Mikhail Vasilenko, on the agenda in time for a meeting of the airport's board on October 8, a source at Aeroflot told Interfax.

Aeroflot has now called for an extraordinary board meeting, which will take place no later than November 2, the source said.

Aeroflot is demanding Vasilenko's resignation after 76 flights were delayed on October 1 and 2 because of the unplanned closure of a section of runway at Sheremetyevo for repairs.

Vasilenko blogged on October 3 that Aeroflot had been warned about the repairs and that a flight schedule had been worked out.

Aeroflot owns 8.96% of Sheremetyevo, the state owns 83.04%, Vnesheconombank (VEB) - 4.24% and VTB - 3.76%.
