Dollar, euro rise on MICEX Monday
MOSCOW. Oct 8 (Interfax) - The dollar and the euro posted appreciable gains on the MICEX Monday amid a shaky state of world capital market affairs, and the ruble slid 23 kopecks against the bicurrency basket ($0.55 and EUR 0.45), which rose to 35.33 rubles.
The dollar closed at 31.16 rubles/$1, up 39 kopecks from Friday. The euro ended the trading day up 15 kopecks at 40.42 rubles/EUR1.
The average weighted dollar rate rose 17.61 kopecks from Friday to 31.1168 rubles/$1 in Today deals on the MICEX. There were no Tomorrow deals on October 8 due to the Columbus Day holiday in the United States. MICEX dollar trading combined to $4.078 billion rubles.
The average weighted euro rate gained 7.29 kopecks to 40.3282 rubles/EUR1 in Today, and 8.22 kopecks to 40.3521 rubles/EUR1 in Tomorrow deals. Euro trading weighed in at EUR 480.508 million, with EUR 208.378 million in Today and EUR 272.13 million in Tomorrow exchanges.
On the money market, the overnight MosPrime Rate lost 4 basis points to 5.99% per annum.
