Russian govt to pursue cases of grain theft
NOVO-OGAREVO. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Materials concerning the theft of grain from elevators have been submitted to the law enforcement authorities, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said.
"As for the security of grain, there are in fact questions. We have already sent a number of materials to the law enforcement authorities - the prosecutor and Interior Ministry - concerning grain actually stolen from elevators," Dvorkovich said at a meeting held by President Vladimir Putin Wednesday on the harvest and the situation on Russia's grain market.
These cases are not widespread, but they do exist, he said.
Putin responded by saying that the problem might not be that "someone, somewhere stole, but maybe inaccuracies on paper."
Dvorkovich agreed with this, but remarked that cases of theft also exist.
