Russia continues to insist on implementation of Geneva agreements on Syria

LUXEMBOURG. Oct 15 (Interfax) - The main thing is to implement the Geneva agreements, not to make them legally binding, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said to reporters on Monday.

He reminded them that Moscow suggested doing it so that the Geneva understandings on Syria would be approved by the UN Security Council and thus assume additional power.

"The main thing is not to make them legally binding but to have them implemented. This calls for everyone to fulfill two conditions of the document: that the sides would simultaneously stop violence when UN observers return to Syria and sit down to the negotiating table," Lavrov said.
