Serious debate is going on "allowed per mille" - Neverov
MOSCOW. Oct 15 (Interfax) - The issue of returning to the legislation a minimal amount of allowed per mille is now being discussed, Sergei Neverov, secretary of the United Russia General Council and Deputy Speaker of the State Duma, told a press conference at the Interfax central office.
"We are having a serious discussion, including on this issue. Our colleagues have proposed the introduction of allowed 0.2 per mille. There are supporters and opponents of this initiative, but we would like to get a better picture of what our citizens think about it and make a decision based on that," he said.
Neverov said United Russia has ordered its regional divisions to discuss the return of the allowed per mille to the legislation. "We have asked our regional divisions to discuss this issue at the level of the regions. Let's see how the discussion go," he said.
A source in the United Russia faction of the State Duma earlier told Interfax the faction's presidium finds that the zero per mille for drivers should stay in the current legislation. The issue has been discussed in the faction's presidium today and the majority, including the administration of the faction, spoke against changing this indicator.
The bill is expected to be submitted to the Supreme Court and the government on Monday.
