Another participant in inter-ethnic clashes in Kyrgyzstan caught in Chelyabinsk
CHELYABINSK. Oct 18 (Interfax) - Chelyabinsk police have apprehended Doniyer Ubaidullayev, an internationally wanted native of Osh, Kyrgyzstan, the Chelyabinsk regional department of the Federal Security Service reported on Thursday.
Kyrgyz police identified Ubaidullayev earlier as a participant in the inter-ethnic clashes of June 2010.
"Ubaidullayev, who leased an apartment to four Kyrgyz students, took the students outside under the pretext of protecting them from pogroms but actually placed them into the hands of the other side, ethnic Uzbeks. One can only guess what happened to the students," the report said.
When the disturbances were over, Ubaidullayev left Kyrgyzstan. He was wanted internationally for taking persons in illegal confinement and participating in riots.
"Ubaidullayev said that he came to Chelyabinsk with his wife and child in September 2012. The family rented an apartment and Ubaidullayev made his living as a private taxi driver," the report said.
The Chelyabinsk regional prosecutor's office is preparing to extradite the suspect.
Earlier a Chelyabinsk court sentenced Ravshan Khakimov, another native of Kyrgyzstan wanted internationally for participation in the riots and residing in Chelyabinsk with a fake id. Chelyabinsk counter-intelligence service detained him in December 2011.
The Chelyabinsk District Court sentenced Khakimov to one year in a convict settlement for trespassing the border and living under a false identity. As soon as Khakimov was sentenced, he was arrested again and transferred to Yekaterinburg, where he was charged with a kidnapping conspiracy.
