Tele2 Kazakhstan to triple revenue in 2012
ALMATY. Oct 18 (Interfax) - Tele2 Kazakhstan expects its revenue to triple this year compared with 2011, said the company's CEO, Andrei Smelkov.
"In 2012 the revenue will triple compared with the previous year. By about the second quarter, or the second half of 2013 at the latest, we expect to post a positive EBITDA, or even earlier if the interconnection rate is lowered. Thus, we will reach the break-even point only two years after starting our business here and we are very proud of this fact," he told a Thursday press conference in Almaty.
Last year the company's gross revenue came to $53 million, and EBITDA to minus $62 million.
Tele2 Kazakhstan entered the Kazakh market in 2010 when it acquired Mobile Telecom-Service LLP, a local mobile operator. Tele2 Kazakhstan is licensed to provide SGM-900 mobile services throughout the republic.
There are another two GSM mobile operators in Kazakhstan: GSM Kazakhstan (owned by TeliaSonera) and KaR-Tel (controlled by Russia's VimpelCom).
