Putin: Russian Popular Front should remain active
NOVO-OGARYOVO, near Moscow. Oct 18 (Interfax) - The Russian Popular Front, a broad association formed during Vladimir Putin's presidential election campaign in 2011, should still play a role in today's public life, President Putin insisted.
"It must be said directly that [the Front] was, among other things, a political instrument of election campaigning, but this is not completely the case. And it was my principle right at the start that, if we set up a broad public coalition of some kind - and the Russian Popular Front has, indeed, become such, - it would be careless, wrong and wasteful to leave it on the sidelines of social processes," Putin said during a meeting with Front activists.
The Front is a good feedback vehicle for the government, keeping it posted "about what is being done in our country and how it's being done," Putin argued.
