Dollar edges up, euro edges down on Thurs
MOSCOW. Oct 18 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar edged up and the euro posted minor losses on the MICEX on Thursday, while the ruble changed only slightly against the bi-currency basket amid expectant market moods in anticipation of the EU summit.
By the end of the day's trade, the dollar stood at 30.77 rubles/$1, 3.5 kopecks above yesterday's close.
The euro fell 6.5 kopecks over Wednesday to 40.305 rubles/EUR1.
The bi-currency basket ($0.55 and EUR0.45) was down just 1 kopeck to 35.06 rubles.
The Central Bank of Russia lowered its official exchange rate for the dollar by 7.69 kopecks to 30.7195 rubles/$1, and for the euro by 8.85 kopecks to 40.264 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged down 6.26 kopecks to 30.7265 rubles in Today deals on the MICEX, and it averaged down 0.45 kopecks to 30.7533 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Overall trading volume was $6.042 billion for the day, including $1.432 billion in Today and $4.61 billion in Tom.
The euro averaged down 8.51 kopecks to 40.2621 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals on the MICEX and 4.12 kopecks to 40.2894 rubles/EUR1 in Tom in volume of EUR420.3 million, including EUR198.8 million Today and EUR221.5 million Tom.
The MosPrime rate for overnight loans fell 21 basis points to 6.09% per annum.
