Dollar, euro post major gains on MICEX for 2nd day in a row
MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar and euro posted major gains on the MICEX on Tuesday owing to a decline on world capital markets, while the ruble dropped against the bi-currency basket.
By the end of the day's trade, the dollar had grown 38.5 kopecks to 31.4435 rubles/$1, while the euro had risen by 16 kopecks to finish at 40.75 rubles/EUR1.
The bi-currency basket grew 28 kopecks to 35.63 rubles.
The Central Bank of Russia raised its official exchange rate for the dollar by 20.87 kopecks to 31.1171 rubles/$1, and for the euro by 23.82 kopecks to 40.5798 rubles/EUR1.
The dollar averaged up 22.8 kopecks to 31.1293 rubles in Today deals on the MICEX, and it averaged up 29.79 kopecks to 31.2407 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Overall trading volume was $8.275 billion for the day, including $1.671 billion in Today and $6.604 billion in Tom.
The euro averaged up 24.94 kopecks to 40.5742 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals on the MICEX and 23.15 kopecks to 40.6156 rubles/EUR1 in Tom in volume of EUR354.501 million, including EUR200.851 million Today and EUR153.65 million Tom.
The MosPrime rate for overnight loans rose 7 basis points to 6.32% per annum.
