Entities affiliated with Oboronservice being searched - source
MOSCOW. Oct 25 (Interfax) - Entities affiliated with Oboronservice are being searched under an embezzlement case and two suspects have been apprehended, a police source told Interfax on Thursday.
"Investigative procedures related to the fraud worth more than 3 billion rubles have been on for two days; two suspects have been taken into custody," he said.
In his words, entities affiliated with Oboronservice are being searched and documents are being impounded.
Oboronservice was established under a presidential ordinance of September 15, 2008. It is an umbrella group of nine sub-holdings: Aviaremont, Spetsremont, Remvooruzhenie, Oboronstroy, Agroprom, Oboronenergo, Voyentorg, Krasnaya Zvezda and Slavyanka. Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov had chaired the Oboronservice board of directors until 2011. Alexander Shlyakhturov, who had been the head of the Main Intelligence Department of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, took the position in 2011.
