Russian auditors to investigate cost of St. Petersburg football stadium

MOSCOW. Oct 26 (Interfax) - The Russian Audit Chamber will look into the situation surrounding the construction of a football stadium in St. Petersburg.

"We signed an agreement with the Audit Chamber of St. Petersburg today, and we are going to launch a joint inquiry into the funding for the football stadium's construction in the city," Audit Chamber Chairman Sergei Stepashin told Interfax on Friday.

"We want to investigate why 16 billion rubles has already been spent on it, as well as the exorbitant cost of the stadium - nearly 43 billion rubles," he said.
