Aeroflot prepared to abandon 34 monopolized flights abroad - Savelyev

NOVO-OGAREVO. Oct 26 (Interfax) - Aeroflot - Russian Airlines is prepared to abandon 34 monopolized flights to other countries, the airline's General Director Vitaly Savelyev said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"You and we have liberalized the market for air-carriage within Russia, no-one has a monopoly here. But many airlines, including Aeroflot, have monopolies on foreign destinations. We want to forward an initiative and show everyone the example that we are ready to abandon the monopoly on 34 flights abroad. And we think that if our routes are designated to other Russian airlines with the aim of lowering prices, we will be in support of that, but with additional frequencies that we should receive in these directions," Savelyev said.
