KYIV. Oct 26 (Interfax) - The Kyiv Shevchenko Court has freed former Ukrainian State Protection major Mykola Melnychenko on bail in the amount of 76,500 hryvni (an equivalent of some $10,000).

The court ruled against the Ukrainian Security service in a suit they filed seeking the arrest of Melnychenko, who is known for taking recordings in the office of former Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma.

An Interfax correspondent reported that Melnychenko was released in the courtroom.
