Mosque mullah among three people killed in Dagestan - investigators

MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - A criminal investigation has been started after three people, including a local mosque mullah, Karimulla Ibragimov, 49, were shot dead in the Republic of Dagestan in Russia's North Caucasus, the Investigative Committee said in a press release seen by Interfax on Tuesday.

Three people were killed when their car came under fire in the town of Derbent, a spokesman for the Investigative Committee's Dagestan branch told Interfax earlier.

An unknown gunman, armed with an automatic weapon, opened fire on a Toyota Corolla car carrying a man and his two sons at around 7:00 a.m., he said.

"It has been established that they were members of the Ibragimov family. All three died on the spot," the spokesman said.

"Investigators are working at the site. A criminal inquiry has been started," he said.
