Govt could privatize 5% of Russian Railways at end 2013 - deputy minister

MOSCOW. Oct 30 (Interfax) - A 5% stake in Russian Railways (RZD) could be privatized at the end of 2013, Deputy Transport Minister Alexei Tsydenov told reporters on the sidelines of a national transport industry congress.

"I think [the RZD privatization will take place] in the form of an IPO and closer to the end of the year [2013]," he said.

Later, the Transport Ministry told Interfax that 5% of RZD is expected to be privatized via an additional shares issue, with the method of placement to be determined by the government.

Economic Development Minister Andrei Belousov has said the government is thinking of a pilot deal to privatize up to 5% of RZD.
