Russian airlines up passenger transport 15.2% in 9M - Rosaviation

MOSCOW. Nov 6 (Interfax) - Russian airlines boosted passenger transport by 15.2% year-on-year to 56.868 million passengers in January-September 2012, the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviation) reported.

In September alone, Russian airlines increased passenger traffic by 15% to 7.797 million people.

Passenger throughput climbed 17.1% to 149.124 billion passenger-kilometers in the first nine months of this year. The passenger load factor rose by 1.6 percentage points to 79.4%.

Freight and mail transport edged up 1.3% year-on-year to 718,566 tonnes in January-September. Freight turnover was up 3.4% to 3.724 billion tonne-kilometers.

According to Rosaviation, OJSC Aeroflot - Russian Airlines ramped up passenger transport by 26.1% to 13.292 million people in January-September, Transaero increased passenger transport by 23.1% to 8.077 million people, OJSC UTair - 43.1% to 5.974 million passengers, Siberia Airlines - 24.3% to 4.772 million people, and Rossiya Airlines - 23.9% to 3.362 million passengers.
