Ruble gains on dollar and euro in MICEX trades
MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax) - The U.S. dollar and euro both posted losses on the MICEX for Wednesday while the Russian ruble moved up against the Central Bank's bi-currency basket (set at 0.45 euro and $0.55) as interest in risk expanded following the conclusion of the U.S. Presidential Election, as well as rising oil prices yesterday evening. By day's end the ruble's gains shortened somewhat owing to the worsening mood on global markets.
The dollar went down by 2.5 kopecks to close at 31.46 rubles/$1 on the MICEX while the euro lost 22 kopecks and finished at 40.1175 rubles/EUR1. The bi-currency basket went down by 11 kopecks to close at 35.36 rubles.
The dollar averaged down 22.45 kopecks 31.2938 rubles in Today deals on the MICEX, and 15.22 kopecks to 31.3496 rubles/$1 in Tomorrow deals. Overall trading volume was $6.57 billion for the day, including $1.3108 billion in Today and $5.2596 billion in Tom.
The euro averaged down 5.69 kopecks to 40.2411 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals on the MICEX and 11.25 kopecks to 40.1827 rubles/EUR1 in Tom in volume of EUR 557.6 million, including EUR 233.5 million Today and EUR 324.1 million Tom.
The overnight MosPrime Rate went down by 16 basis points to 6.23%.
