VCSP increases freight handling 6% in Jan-Oct
VLADIVOSTOK. Nov 9 (Interfax) - OJSC Vladivostok Commercial Seaport (VCSP, part of the FESCO Transport Group) increased freight handling by 6% year-on-year to 5.6526 million tonnes in January-October 2012, the company told Interfax.
Out of this total, the facility handled 2.613 million tonnes of bulk, liquid and other general freight (excluding containers and imported vehicles).
VCSP processed 376,928 TEU (the equivalent of a 20-foot container) in the period, up 6% year-on-year, as well as 65,441 imported vehicles and automobiles.
Daily handling at the port in January-October averaged at 18,533 tonnes of various freight, as well as 258 vehicles a day.
It was earlier reported that VCSP reduced its total freight handling last year by 7.8% to 6.3819 million tonnes.
VCSP is the largest stevedoring company at the Vladivostok port in Russia's Far East. LLC M-Port (a subsidiary of FESCO Group) owns 95.6% of shares in the company.
