Lithuania denies recalling ambassador from Belarus
MINSK. Nov 9 (Interfax) - Lithuanian Ambassador in Belarus Linas Linkevicius has not been recalled from Minsk, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry told Interfax.
"No one has officially recalled our ambassador from Minsk. No one has taken such actions," the press and public relations department of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry said.
Earlier on Friday, it was reported that the Lithuanian diplomat had left for Vilnius, which led to Internet reports that the ambassador had been recalled for consultations over an incident that occurred on the territory of the Lithuanian embassy in Minsk.
At the same time, the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry could not say where the ambassador is at this time.
The phones of the Lithuanian ambassador's office in Minsk are not working.
On November 6, two unknown individuals threw two bottles with explosive liquid onto the territory of the Lithuanian embassy in Minsk. "Both bottles caught fire, but the fire was contained by the embassy firefighting service. No damage was done to the embassy because the bottles fell on the pavement," the Belarusian Investigations Committee said.
A criminal case has been opened on the basis of Part 2 of Article 339 (hooliganism committed by a group of people).
