Two men convicted of coup plots freed early in Georgia

TBILISI. Nov 10 (Interfax) - Two politicians convicted of coup plots several years ago were released on Saturday before serving out their prison terms.

Amiran Kadagishvili was arrested in 2004, when he was deputy prime minister. Monarchist Party leader Temur Zhorzholiani was arrested in 2006.

"Another 57 convicts were released early together with them, including women and minors," Corrections and Legal Assistance Minister Sozar Subari told reporters.

He said those released included an under-age boy sentenced to 14 years in prison for stealing a kilogram of nuts.

"We will definitely revise the cases of all convicts, and many of them will be released early," Subari said.
