Syrian groups not included in revolution coalition have no support - opposition activist

MOSCOW. Nov 12 (Interfax) - The refusal by some Syrian opposition groups, including the National Coordination Committees, to join the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution Forces formed on Sunday, will not affect its activities, Mahmud al-Hamsa, a representative of the Syrian National Council in Russia, said.

"Yes, they have refused. But we can do without them, they have no weight, and they don't have any support," he told Interfax on Monday, commenting on the decision made by the National Coordination Committee.

"Their position is unclear: sometimes they appear to be closer to the regime, and sometimes they seem to gravitate towards the opposition. You never know with them. For this reason, their absence is not important," he said.

The Syrian National Council is part of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution Forces.

At the same time, Mahmud al-Hamsa called the inclusion of the new coalition of the opposition Democratic Tribune of Syria an important event.

Mahmud al-Hamsa also confirmed that former Syrian Prime Minister Riyad Hijab, who joined the opposition in the summer, has also joined the National Coalition of Syrian Revolution Forces.
