Monday wedding shooter remains in custody
MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax) - The suspected shooter in a recent wedding gunfire incident in western Moscow remains at a police station, a spokesman for the Moscow Police told Interfax.
"The young man remains at a police station. An inquiry is underway to find out whether his offence should be qualified as administrative or criminal," he said.
The Moscow Police earlier reported that a large number of cartridges, a flashing beacon, handcuffs and an air gun were found in a car after a wedding motorcade that fired shots to salute the newly weds, was stopped.
"Two air pistols, about 50 cartridges, handcuffs, a flashing beacon and a baseball bat were discovered in one of the cars," the spokesman said.
The weapons were registered to the car owner's name. Nine drivers were accused of failing to obey the traffic police and they will be fined up to 500 rubles each, he said.
Eyewitnesses complained to police on Monday evening that shots were fired when a wedding motorcade was traveling in southwestern Moscow.
A young man, presumably the wedding shooter, was detained on Tuesday. An air pistol smelling of fresh gunpowder was seized from the 18 year-old young man, a law enforcement source told Interfax.
Several wedding shooting incidents have been reported in different parts of Russia lately. The fast one occurred during a Caucasian wedding in central Moscow on September 30.
