Russian air force to get six Su-35 fighters by end of 2012

MOSCOW. Nov 13 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's air force will receive six Sukhoi Su-35 fighters fitted with 117S engines before the end of 2012, a top figure in Russian aircraft engine manufacturer NPO Saturn said on Tuesday.

"The aircraft will go into the forces, where the training of aircrews will start," Yevgeny Marchukov, head of Saturn's Lyulka Scientific and Technological Center, told an international conference in Moscow.

He said 80% of components of the generation 4++ 117S engine are newly designed units - "a new ventilator, a new combustion chamber, a new turbine, a modernized deflectable thrust nozzle."
