Aerospace defense formation suspended for additional analysis - serviceman
MOSCOW. Nov 14 (Interfax) - Russian General Staff Chief Col. Gen. Valery Gerasimov has suspended the formation of aerospace defense and the merger of Defense Ministry schools on the basis of the Mozhaisky Military Academy, ex-Air Defense Deputy Commander Col. Gen. Anatoly Khyupenen said at a State Duma Defense Committee roundtable on Wednesday.
"I have just visited the General Staff and met with Col. Gen. Valery Gerasimov to discuss aerospace defense issues. He said clearly that any measures with regard to aerospace defense and the merger of the Air Defense Academy in Tver and some other schools on the basis of the St. Petersburg Mozhaisky Military Academy had been suspended," he said.
The General Staff chief is forming a working party, which will thoroughly analyze the forces and systems comprising the aerospace defense network and make proposals concerning aerospace defense and its main educational establishment.
