Explosives seized from student at Penza railway station
PENZA. Nov 14 (Interfax) - The police have detained a young man who was carrying an explosive substance in the railway station Penza-1, the press service for the Interior Ministry's department for the region reported on Wednesday.
The man, who is a student of the Penza State Technological Academy and was detained on Tuesday, was found in possession of some 100 grams of ammonium sodium.
The man told the police he is already preparing for the New Year celebrations and ammonium sodium was intended for fireworks that he planned to test, but did not have the time to.
The search of the man's residence yielded a box containing ingredients for the production of explosives, the report says.
The substances have been sent for an expert evaluation.
