Moscow exchange temporarily suspends trade on forex market

MOSCOW. Nov 14 (Interfax) - The Moscow exchange has suspended trades in foreign currency on the ETS due to the emergence of unforeseen circumstances, the exchange said in a statement.

"There has been an error on the forex market that does not affect the rest of the exchange's markets. After the error was discovered, the decision was made to suspend trade. The specific reasons are being clarified," an official representative of the exchange told Interfax.

Trade was suspended at 3:58 p.m. Moscow time, and the break was originally supposed to last at least 60 minutes. Now the suspension has been prolonged to 6:00 p.m. The exchange plans to make an announcement when trade resumes.

At the moment, the system is being rebooted. The process was delayed due to the fact that the unforeseen circumstances occurred at the end of the trading day, and there is a lot of data in the system, the representative said.

"In the case that trade resumes at 6:00 p.m., there aren't any plans to prolong the trading session. Trading will go according to the exchange's rules - until 7:00 p.m.," the representative said.
