ASFV found in sausage in Leningrad region

St. Petersburg. Nov 15 (Interfax) - The African swine fever virus (ASFV) has been detected in sausage and pork fat in the town of Kirovsk in the Leningrad region, Russia's Rosselkhoznadzor veterinary and phytosanitary supervision agency reports.

On November 13, the authorities halted unsanctioned trade in meat products - fat pork, cooked and smoked sausage, and cooked and smoked delicacies totaling at least 55 kg, the report says.

"Trading was conducted by a physical person in an improperly equipped place in the absence of veterinary or other certificates for the above products," it says.

In October, ASFV was found in pork fat at a trade fair in the town of Tosno.
