RZD expects 2.5% increase in freight transport on Russian railways in 2013 - Yakunin
MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax) - OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) expects a 2.5% increase in freight transport on Russia's railway system in 2013, the company's president, Vladimir Yakunin, said during an interview with the Russia Today television channel.
"We presume that the increase in our freight transport next year will be over 2.5%," Yakunin said.
The top-manager said that the forecast is influenced by Russia's entry into the World Trade Organization.
It was earlier reported that RZD expected freight hauling to increase by 2.4% in 2013 after reducing an earlier forecast of 3% growth. At the same time, the company allowed for a 0.5% decrease for the 2013 figure in its conservative estimates (with consideration of the negative impact of the economic climate in China and the Eurozone).
