Moscow's claims Israeli reaction is disproportionate is unclear - Israeli PM's advisor

MOSCOW. Nov 16 (Interfax) - Israel does not agree with Moscow's claims that it uses force disproportionately in response to missile strikes from Gaza.

"It is hard for me to say what is understood by 'proportion' here. Palestinian terrorists have been shelling Israeli civilians for 12 years, hitting towns with a population of nearly a million, as well as schools, child-care centers and homes," the Israeli prime minister's advisor for the Russian-language media, Alex Selsky, told Interfax.

"Yes, we may be destroying terrorists alone from the air, using large missiles and advanced technology, because we are an advanced state economically and militarily. So, I don't understand why disproportion is seen in our reaction," he said.

Selsky was commenting on Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich's statement at a press briefing on Thursday, that "missile attacks on southern Israel, the same as the disproportionate strikes on Gaza, which kill civilians on both sides, are unacceptable."
