CSTO parliamentarians to discuss consequences of coalition pullout from Afghanistan
MOSCOW. Nov 19 (Interfax-AVN) - The Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Parliamentary Assembly Council will convene in St. Petersburg to discuss security in Afghanistan after the pullout of coalition forces in 2014, CSTO press secretary Vladimir Zainetdinov told Interfax-AVN on Monday.
"The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Council will hold its first meeting with the participation of security council secretaries of CSTO member states at the St. Petersburg Tavrichesky Palace on November 22," he said.
The delegates will discuss preparations for the December session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, consequences of the coalition pullout from Afghanistan, legislative and organizational strengthening of the security system in the context of possible exacerbation after 2014, and interaction between the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and the Committee of Security Council Secretaries in the provision of collective security of CSTO countries, he said.
CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Chairman, State Duma Chairman Sergei Naryshkin, CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha and Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev will deliver reports at the meeting.
Abdul Sattar Havasi, a deputy chairman of the Afghan Parliament's House of the People, will attend the meeting to present information about Afghanistan on the verge of the coalition pullout, Zainetdinov said.
