Euro slips under 40 rubles on MICEX, hits lowest point since late Sept
MOSCOW. Nov 21 (Interfax) - The euro declined during Wednesday trading on the MICEX under 40 rubles and hit its lowest point since September 28 owing to its losses on the world forex market.
By 1:00 pm Moscow time, the euro came to 39.9975 rubles/EUR1, losing around 12 kopecks from yesterday's close.
The dollar went up by 2 kopecks to 31.333 rubles/$1. The Central Bank's bi-currency basket (set at 0.55 and 0.45 euro) decreased by 4 kopecks to 35.23 rubles.
According to experts at the Interfax Center for Economic Analysis, the euro's losses on the MICEX have been driven by the worsening situation with the European currency on the forex market after news that the European Group's decision on Greece has been delayed.
