AFK Sistema may invest in port infrastructure
MOSCOW. Nov 22 (Interfax) - AFK Sistema is considering investment in port infrastructure.
"We have not yet formulated our strategy on this issue, but this is certainly something we are looking into," AFK President Mikhail Shamolin said at a briefing in Moscow Wednesday.
An Interfax source in Sistema said the company is "looking" at two terminals in Taman that belong to agriculture company EFKO and Togliattiazot. "But in one case Togliattiazot needs to be bought and it is not for sale yet," he said.
The company is "not ready yet for the port business." In addition, there is a shortage of deap sea ports in the "southern direction," the source said.
Vedomosti newspaper reported this spring that EFKO was ready to sell its terminal for $200 million to $300 million. Among the contenders named were Glencore, Luis Dreyfus and Sergei Shishkarev's Delo group.
