Kurgan investigators' HQ set on fire - source

KURGAN. Nov 23 (Interfax) - A fire erupted after Molotov cocktails were thrown at the building of the Russian Investigative Committee's branch for Kurgan, a source in law enforcement agencies told Interfax.

"Two unknown men hurled stones that smashed a window on the second floor of the headquarters of the Russian Investigative Committee's branch for the Kurgan region, after which they threw three Molotov cocktails inside the building," he said.

It took local emergency services ten minutes to extinguish the blaze.

No one was killed or injured in the incident. Office equipment was damaged.

"Before the arson, the men tied the entrance door knobs together with a rope, trapping a police officer who was guarding the premises at night inside the building," the source said.

A criminal investigation has been started.
