Gazprom launches combined-cycle gas turbine unit at Pravoberezhnaya CHPP in St. Petersburg

MOSCOW. Nov 23 (Interfax) - Gazprom launched a CCGT-450 (combined-cycle gas turbine) unit at the Pravoberezhnaya Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHPP) in St. Petersburg on Friday, the gas giant said in a press release.

By commissioning this new CCGT, Gazprom has boosted Pravoberezhnaya's electricity capacity to 630 MW and its installed heat capacity to 1,283 Gcal/hour.

This is Gazprom's third major power unit construction project on the basis of combined-cycle gas turbine technology in St. Petersburg in recent years, after the launch of the CCGT-450 at the Yuzhnaya CHPP and two CCGT-180s at the Pervomayskaya CHPP.

The Pravoberezhnaya CHPP belongs to TGK-1 , which is in turn controlled by LLC Gazprom Energoholding, a 100% subsidiary of Gazprom. The CHPP provides heat to industrial enterprises, residential facilities and public buildings in the Nevsky and Krasnogvardeysky Districts of St. Petersburg, which are home to some 700,000 people.

Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, St. Petersburg Governor Georgy Poltavchenko, member of Gazprom's management board Kirill Seleznev, General Director of Gazprom Energoholding Denis Fyodorov and General Director of TGK-1 Andrei Filippov participated in the events.
