Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus integrate but have no common currency plans - Medvedev
PARIS. Nov 27 (Interfax) - Russia is targeting a full-scale economic union with Kazakhstan and Belarus by 2015; the goal will be achieved through integration in the Customs Union, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev told French businessmen in Paris on Tuesday.
"We have a common market. We and our partners plan to create a full-scale economic union by January 1, 2015. While doing that, we will analyze the experience of the European Union," he said.
The Eurasian Economic Commission, established on February 1, 2012, "is gradually acquiring powers in customs tariff and non-tariff regulation, customs administering, technical regulation, and trade regimes with third countries," the premier said.
"A common currency is not on the agenda of the Customs Union now," he said. "But we are strengthening financial cooperation bearing in mind that the ruble might become a world reserve currency," he said.
Medvedev also called attention of French businessmen to plans to transform Moscow into an international financial center.
