CIS common air defense forces conducting command post exercise
MOSCOW. Nov 28 (Interfax-AVN) - The CIS common air defense forces started a command post exercise on Wednesday morning, Col. Alexei Zolotukhin, a Russian Defense Ministry spokesman for the Aerospace Defense Forces, told Interfax-AVN.
"Taking part in the exercise are Air Defense and Air Force units from eight CIS members, namely the Russian Federation, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine," Zolotukhin said.
The exercise is coordinated from the Russian Aerospace Defense Forces' command post outside Moscow.
According to the exercise's legend, a potential enemy flies combat, military transportation, and special aircraft along the borders of the CIS member-states in peacetime, and, in order to prevent attempts to violate their airspace, the CIS air defense forces are practicing steps to enhance their combat preparedness and interoperability, Zolotukhin said.
