Lawyer gets 22 years in penal colony for murder, attempted raiding takeover

ST. PETERSBURG. Nov 29 (Interfax) - A St. Petersburg court has convicted a lawyer and his accomplices for an attempted raiding takeover of an enterprise, murder, and other crimes, the press service for the St. Petersburg Investigations Committee reported on Wednesday.

"Alexei Temelidi, a lawyer with the international bar association St. Petersburg, has been sentenced to 22 years in a penal colony. His two accomplices received 14 and 12 years in penal colonies and another two accomplices received suspended sentences of four and three years in prison," the report says.

The investigators have determined that Temelidi and Vladimir Morozov, director of OOO Elektrozashchita, had agreed to kill the company's general director to obtain the right to dispose of her property and money.

Temelidi commissioned three accomplices to kill the woman. The murder was carried out in December 2007. The woman's body was thrown into the Neva. The crime's mastermind promised the perpetrators the woman's property (5.4 million rubles was stolen from her apartment).

After the murder, Temelidi and Morozov tried to obtain funds belonging to Elektrozashchita, which were in a bank account, but bank employees and law enforcement official prevented them from doing that.

The criminal case against Morozov was closed at the stage of investigation due to his death.
