Defense of law in N. Caucasus should take place aggressively - Kolokoltsev
MOSCOW. Nov 30 (Interfax) - The Interior Ministry's Interior Troops have managed to ensure stability in the Northern Caucasus, but the fight against terrorism should remain aggressive, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev said at a meeting of the Military Council of the Main Command of the Interior Ministry's Interior Troops on Friday.
"One of the main tasks is the fight against terrorism and extremism in the territory of the Northern Caucasus. The Interior Troops, along with the Russian Armed Forces and the law enforcement structures from other federal agencies, have managed to ensure stability and reduce the level of criminal and anti-constitutional activities by militant groups," the minister said.
At the same time, he reiterated that "the terrorism threat and tension remain in the region." "For this reason, the measures taken to protect law and prevent crime should remain aggressive and appropriate to the current situation," Kolokoltsev said.
