Transport prosecutors won't probe Puchkov plane incident

NOVOSIBIRSK. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Russian Emergency Situations Minister Vladimir Puchkov, whose plane made an emergency landing at a Novosibirsk airport on Friday, has arrived at the Emergency Situations Ministry's Main Department for the Novosibirsk region, an Interfax correspondent has reported.

The minister is now examining specialized equipment. He has also been shown the center's operation in crisis conditions.

Yevgeniya Dergacheva, a representative of the Western Siberian transport prosecutors, said the Yak-42 plane that brought the minister to the city is a departmental plane. "For this reason, transport prosecutors will not be probing this incident," she said.

Earlier reports said the Nososibirsk transport prosecutors would probe the emergency landing of the plane carrying Puchkov.

"The Yak-42 plane landed safety at 3:22 p.m. with 27 passengers and 11 crewmembers aboard. There is information that the right engine of the plane failed," an official with the Western Siberian transport prosecutors said.
