Ukraine could work with Norway on LNG deliveries to LNG terminal - PM

OSLO. Nov 30 (Interfax) - Ukraine is mulling the possibility of liquefied natural gas (LNG) deliveries from Norway to the LNG terminal Ukraine is building, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said.

"We've begun building an LNG terminal for the receipt of liquefied gas. We figure that with the completion of construction it will be possible to buy roughly 10 billion cubic meters of liquefied gas at spot prices, which are now around [60%] lower than prices for the Russian gas we buy. We could also work with Norway in this," Azarov said in an address to the Ukrainian-Norwegian business forum in Oslo on Friday.

As Deputy Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Makukha told Interfax, Ukraine has yet to begin official negotiations with Norway over such possible deliveries, but they look promising from the standpoint of the diversification of future deliveries of LNG to Ukraine.
