Death toll from blast in Tomsk apartment block rises to 2; another 2 missing - city hall
TOMSK. Nov 30 (Interfax) - An explosion in an apartment block in Tomsk on Friday claimed the lives of two people, a spokesperson for the Tomsk city hall told Interfax.
Two more residents of the building are missing, the spokesperson said.
Earlier reports said one person had been killed and 11 injured, nine of whom were hospitalized.
A household gas cylinder blew up in a nine-story apartment building on Sibirskaya Street in Tomsk on Friday afternoon. The blast destroyed the ceiling between the eighth and ninth floors, and several balconies collapsed.
Fire teams have fully extinguished a fire that erupted after the blast. "The fire has been extinguished fully. Specialists have started to examine the house," the Emergency Situations Ministry department for the region told Interfax.
