Yanukovych accepts government resignation

KYIV. Dec 3 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and his Cabinet.

The president signed the ordinance on Monday, the presidential website reports. The ordinance entered into force on the day of its signing.

The same ordinance instructed the Cabinet to continue the execution of its duties until the new government started working.

The presidential press service reported that Prime Minister Azarov tendered his resignation to Yanukovych on Monday.

Pursuant to the Ukrainian Constitution, the resignation of the prime minister entails the resignation of the entire cabinet. And the president accepted both.

The resignation is linked with the election of some ministers as Verkhovna Rada deputies, among them Prime Minister Mykola Azarov, Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs Serhiy Tihipko, Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych, Economic Development and Trade Minister Petro Poroshenko, Emergency Situations Minister Viktor Baloha, Deputy Prime Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov, Regional Development, Construction and Housing Minister Anatoliy Blyznyuk, and Education, Science, Youth and Sports Minister Dmytro Tabachnyk.
