Twelve-month conscription service sufficient if training is effective - General Staff
MOSCOW. Dec 4 (Interfax-AVN) - Since the 12-month conscription service was introduced in Russia a year ago, the Russian military has gained certain experience in training conscripts under the new schedule, said Russian General Staff chief Col. Gen. Valery Gerasimov.
"A system of training conscripts has been devised in the troops since then, which is sufficient to continue the 12-month conscription service practice," Gerasimov told the military attaches accredited in Russia on Tuesday.
