India, Pakistan are ready to become full-fledged members of SCO
BISHKEK. Dec 5 (Interfax) - India and Pakistan confirm their interest in obtaining the status of full-fledged members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
"We would be very happy to continue working in SCO as a full-fledged member as soon as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization makes a decision to expand," Indian Deputy Foreign Minister Sanjey Singh said at the meeting of the heads of governments of the SCO countries on Wednesday.
Pakistan's Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira, who was also present at the meeting, said Pakistan has a similar stance on the matter.
"We are looking forward to beginning work with you as a full-fledged member," he said.
India and Pakistan now have observer status in the SCO.
