Inflation in Russia 0.1% Nov 27 to Dec 3 - Rosstat

MOSCOW. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Russia had 0.1% inflation in the week of November 27 to December 3, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) reported on Wednesday.

Inflation was at 0.1% for the fifth week in a row after unexpectedly slowing to zero at the end of October.

There was no inflation from the beginning of December to December 3 and 6.1% inflation from the period January 1 to December 3, surpassing the upper threshold of the original official 2012 forecast of 5%-6%. During the same periods of last year, it was 0.1% and 5.7%, respectively.

Therefore, inflation in annual terms, accounting for possible rounding, was 6.4% by December 3, compared to 6.5% at the end of November.

Over the previous week, prices for eggs rose 2.1%, for wheat flower - 0.6% and for granulated sugar, rye bread, milk, vermicelli, pasta items and millet - 0.3%-0.5%.

Meanwhile, buckwheat prices were down 0.4%, and rice prices decreased 0.2%.

Fruit and vegetable prices averaged up 0.5%, including 0.8% growth for onions and 0.7% for potatoes.

Automobile gasoline prices edged down 0.1%, while diesel fuel prices increased 0.7%.

According to a consensus forecast of economists compiled by Interfax at the end of November, inflation will rise to 6.8% in Russia this year, compared to 6.1% in 2011. The Economic Development Ministry anticipates 6.6%-6.8% inflation in 2012, and the Central Bank of Russia expects 6.5%-6.7%.
