Nod given to Ukraine's poultry exports to EU
KYIV. Dec 5 (Interfax) - Ukraine has been cleared to export eggs, egg products, birds and poultry to the European Union, Ukraine's veterinary and phytosanitary control service has reported, and it has been officially entered on the list of countries that have the right to export poultry to the European Union.
"The Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health (SCFCAH) held a technical vote on Ukraine's proposed entry on the list of third countries allowed to export poultry to the EU," it said.
Exactly when Ukraine will be able to start exporting poultry to the EU was not mentioned. But in accordance with the European Commission regulations amendments must be made in the European Commission rules first, which may take from two to three months.
In addition to this, Ukraine is to submit its program for preventing salmonella, compliant with the EU standards, to the European Commission.
Ukraine had been seeking the right to export poultry to the EU for a long time.
